1. Introduction
Ok so you are here. You are Wondering "What can i do? Where do I start?" Well the answer is this: You can start HERE! This guide is created for the convinience of the new memeber. So Lets get Started!
Fisrt off there are a few terms you should know. One of them is the term Custom Firmware. You are wondering, "what is this?" Well Custom firmware is a highly customizable version of sony's origional firmwares. Another major term here is the word "Homebrew" Well homebrew is a 'Home-made' application for your PSP! So now you are wondering, "How can i get Homebrew?" Well first we got to figure out what your firmware is.
Bust, before we do that, there is a magical term called "downgrading" This allows you to 'unlock your regualr Sony firmware(OFW) and make it a custom firmware (CFW).
Below is a chart with all firmwares and their downgrading methods.
To figure out what firmware you have, go to Settings>System Settings>System Information and it will say Version x.xx (x resembles a number)

6. Downgrading Information/Re-cap
1.00 Through 2.82 OFW (officail Firmware) - no need for UMD , just downgrader file
3.03 Gran Theft Auto : Liberty [unpatched](somthing, just look up GTA:LCS)
and downgrader file needed.
3.11~3.50 Lumines 1 (unpatched) and Downgrader file needed.
Pandoras Battery: Downgrades and UNBRICKS 1.00~3.96 OFW and CFW
PSP FATS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
REquirements: Spare battery, Homebrew enabled psp, spare memory stick PRO duo
Desperado Cemitario: Half-Downgrader/UNBICKER for PSP SLIM and FAT for all FW up to 3.96
Requirements: Homebrew enabled PSP, spare memory stick PRO duo, spare PSP SLIM/FAT battery
To upgrde to custom frimware on PSP slim, you must download the 3.60M33 pack and read the READ ME for details/
4.00 is currently UNDOWNGRADEABLE so DONT UPDATE if you want homebrew.

-If you are running CFW (custom firmware) on s PSP Slim (PSP-200x) you might want a 1.50 Kernal.
-NEVER MESS WITH you flash0 file, UNLESS you are 100% shure you know what you are doing.

Ok so now you have a pretty good idea on what you might want to use, well here is a little re-cap on what we know
6. Downgrading Information/Re-cap
1.00 Through 2.82 OFW (officail Firmware) - no need for UMD , just downgrader file
3.03 Gran Theft Auto : Liberty [unpatched](somthing, just look up GTA:LCS)
and downgrader file needed.
3.11~3.50 Lumines 1 (unpatched) and Downgrader file needed.
Pandoras Battery: Downgrades and UNBRICKS 1.00~3.96 OFW and CFW
PSP FATS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
REquirements: Spare battery, Homebrew enabled psp, spare memory stick PRO duo
Desperado Cemitario: Half-Downgrader/UNBICKER for PSP SLIM and FAT for all FW up to 3.96
Requirements: Homebrew enabled PSP, spare memory stick PRO duo, spare PSP SLIM/FAT battery
To upgrde to custom frimware on PSP slim, you must download the 3.60M33 pack and read the READ ME for details/
4.00 is currently UNDOWNGRADEABLE so DONT UPDATE if you want homebrew.

7.Homebrew
SO we are downgraded and CFW'd and we are sitting here saying "Now what?". You know what? HOMEBREW! Like we stated before, homebrew is a home made application for the psp. So here is a list of good homebrews i can think of.

8. Other stuff
-If you are running CFW (custom firmware) on s PSP Slim (PSP-200x) you might want a 1.50 Kernal.
-NEVER MESS WITH you flash0 file, UNLESS you are 100% shure you know what you are doing.
